Ederson has played under Pep Guardiola since 2017, and he praised the coach for having directed English football onto a tangent.

Ederson called it a “joy” to play for Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, although he confessed that “sometimes he is annoying.”

Since he signed for City in June 2017, Ederson has kept a clean sheet in 113 of his 257 Premier League appearances-more than any other goalkeeper in the competition since his debut.

He has already attained all of the major trophies: 15 total with City; 6 Premier Leagues, 2 FA Cups, and 1 Champions League under Guardiola, one UEFA Super Cup, and 1 Club World Cup.

On national duty with Brazil, Ederson was present for Children’s Day-someone asked, is Pep a nice guy, an annoying one, or angry.

He was quoted in ESPN Brasil as saying, “You have to be careful now; you’re going to get me in trouble. The answer’s all 3.

He’s a nice person, he’s sometimes annoying, in the sense of [having] some pressure because he has to [be] demanding to a pro [player], and he’s also angry when it fits to be angry.

Most of the time, he covers all three. He’s a very nice person off the pitch, a very, very demanding person on it. And he’s also a guy who gets angry, like any person, really, like any coach, when things are not going well or the football isn’t plain sailing.

“Of course, we know that we are not going to play 70 games at an extremely high level. In one game or another, we may have dips.”

Since Guardiola took over, City have become the only club from England to win all five trophies – Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, Super Cup, and Club World Cup – in a year (2023).

Guardiola has now led 311 games in the English top flight since July 2016, with 230 victories (43 draws and 38 losses). He is recorded with a winning percentage in the competition of 73.95% and an average of 2.36 points per game.

“You know, I was really able to contribute to this project,” said Ederson. “You take everything Guardiola has built up with the group, with the squad and everything he’s been able to reformulate practically.

“If you see every Premier League game these days, how teams are trying to play more football, have more possession, it is completely different from how it was before he arrived.

“So to be part of this project and achieve what I have achieved, I do feel really honored because it truly is a childhood dream.”
